The original PLAYZONE team that disbanded in the early stages of 2011 are rumoured to be making a comeback.
Words of rumour have been exchanged between ourselves and an unnamed source that the original PLAYZONE lineup will be making a swift return to the CoD4 scene with an unknown temporary team name. Much like many of the thriller movies I have watched, there comes a twist. In this particular case, one player is missing from the 'original' recipe: only for the other four to be seasoned by a familiar face. As you may have already guessed, the missing piece to the puzzle is none other than Epsilon's
" Gambhir, who shall be duly replaced by
" Wilkinson. Whispers of their complete lineup include these five players:
The outcome of such a move seems questionable as all of the aforementioned players have had their fair share of problems in the past. It must also be mentioned that despite
' Kilbride being an up and coming SMG in recent times, there have been personality clashes between him and the rest of the lineup during his previous stint in PLAYZONE - this being a common feat that often goes unmentioned when players depart from their team on their so-called 'good terms.'
Nevertheless, the team sports more than enough talent to compete with some of the best teams around. Having placed 9th in TEK-9's November 2010 Top Ten Ranking after a flurry of good results in October's Esportsheaven cups (even defeating fnaticMSI), the team were beginning to conjure up some big upsets against very good opponents. With
" Cahill leading the troops towards back-to-back wins, the future looked promising. However, with the untimely departure of
" Kilbride in January 2011, one can only say that the loss of such a player foreshadowed what was to come for the mix of European players.
They ended up on the receiving end of false-promises distributed by both
Clan-Virus, only to be coupled with constant lineup changes involving the departures of
" Sanguinetti and eventually
" Cseh. A combination of poor judgment calls, internal conflict, and inflexible time schedules all but ensured the team's demise.
Ultimately, whether or not such a lineup will materialise in the near future is something almost short of speculation - but whether it will prove to be a top ten success once again is the real question to be asked.
